In our NY Emmy nominated episode of “In Our Own Kitchen,” we break bread with immigration activist and Staten Island resident Patricia Okoumou. From her home kitchen, Patricia shares her mother’s recipe for Smoked Fish Saka Saka, a flavorful cassava leaf dish from her homeland of the Republic of Congo, and a nutritious staple she ate growing up. As a personal trainer, healthy eating and exercise has helped her do amazing things, like being the first woman to climb the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
